The partnership

Blok Design Group produces jewellery and gemstone imagery for many of the world’s leading luxury houses and retailers, photographing, retouching, colour-matching and designing the pictures that help each piece find its new owner.

A jewellery buyer is convinced by the clarity of a diamond, the depth of a coloured stone and the precision of a setting. It’s critical for jewel photography to capture every dimension of each piece with laser-sharp detail.

The brief

Jewellery houses and retailers need every piece’s precise detail presented to the most exacting standards. Every stone, metal and finish responds differently to light, compounded by highly reflective precious metals mirroring everything in the studio.

Our jewel shoots and colour work is designed bespoke based on the piece, its stones and settings and the maison’s brand style guide.

Light built around the stone

When we shoot pieces created by brands like Cartier, capturing the clarity and fire of each diamond is key. Our jewellery lighting techniques draw out genuine scintillation, holding the highlights so every facet stays crisp and brilliance is captured, never manufactured.

Colour true to the gem

A ruby’s red or an emerald’s green is part of its value. Our calibrated colour workflow holds each stone true from capture through to print, collection after collection.

Metal under control

Polished gold and platinum reflect the entire studio. We manage every reflection so the metal reads clean and true, with nothing in the frame that should not be there.

Craftsmanship at macro scale

Pavé work, micro-settings and engraving demand extreme sharpness. We work at macro precision and our retouchers remove dust and fingerprints without ever infringing on the craftsmanship.
